This article addresses problems related to Afi SaaS backup for Google Workspace application installation. In case of problems with Afi SaaS backup for Microsoft 365 installation, please refer to the following article.
Install the Afi application from Google Workspace Marketplace. Once the Afi application is installed, it may take up to 24 hours before access rights are propagated, and the application starts working properly. During this time, the Afi web app will show the following message - "After application is installed it may take up to 24 hours before access is granted to the application. This page will be automatically refreshed to check the access".
If, for any reason, Afi application doesn't start working properly after 24 hours, please check the following:
- if the Afi application is installed and has access to your Google Workspace account;
- if the Afi application is installed by a Google Workspace Super admin user;
- if the Afi application is enabled for all organizational unit(s) (or there is at least one Google Workspace Super Admin user in the organizational unit(s) where the application is enabled);
- if third-party API access is enabled in the Google Workspace administrator panel.
How to check if the Afi application is installed and has access to Google Workspace account
You can check if the Afi application is installed on the Afi Google Workspace Backup page in Google Workspace Marketplace (while on the page, please make sure that you are logged in as a Google Workspace account Super Admin).
If Afi is installed, the next step is to check the application installation settings in Google Workspace Admin panel. To check installation settings login to Google Workspace Admin panel, go to Apps → Google Workspace Marketplace apps -> Apps list and click on Afi Google Workspace Backup application in the list:
On the application configuration page, make sure that the application is enabled for all organizational units and data access is granted.
If, for security reasons, you prefer to limit the application installation only to specific organizational units, make sure that at least one organizational unit where the application is installed has a Google Super Admin user among its members.
How to check if third-party API access is enabled in Google Workspace administrator panel
To check if third-party applications can access your Google Workspace account, please go to Security -> API controls and make sure that checkbox "Block all third-party API access" in Settings is unchecked.
Re-installing application to trigger access rights propagation
If the previous steps didn't help, you can uninstall Afi application and install it again. This triggers Google Workspace access rights propagation and should help if previous steps didn't work.
a. To uninstall Afi go to Apps → Google Workspace Marketplace apps -> Apps list, then select the application name.
b. Uninstall the application by clicking on the bucket icon, then install it again from the Marketplace.
