In this article we will explain how to protect new Google Workspace accounts or Shared drives which were added after initial setup of Afi backup application.
Automatic discovery of new resources (user accounts / Shared drives)
Afi G Suite Backup application automatically rescans all resources in your Google Workspace domain once per day. This means that if a new user is created in a connected Google Workspace domain then it will be discovered by Afi application during the 24 hours.
It is possible to automatically assign protection for newly discovered resources. To enable it administrator needs to go to Service → Protection → Organisational Units page, select domain or specific organisational units which he wants to protect, choose SLA in Assign SLA dialogue and make sure that option Automatically protect new resources is checked. With this option all new resources created inside a given organisational unit will be protected automatically when Afi system discover them. If this option is combined with Protect sub Organisational Units then Afi system with automatically assign SLA from parent organisational unit to newly created child units too.
Manual discovery of created resources (user accounts / Shared drives)
If protection policy for the a user or Shared drive should be assigned immediately after its creation, then domain rescan can be triggered by pressing refresh button in the top-right corner of Service → Protection screen. Rescan could take up to several minutes for large domains and after it is finished Protection page will be refreshed automatically.
After rescan is finished, you can find newly added resources in Resources list and make sure that it has correct SLA or select SLA for the resource manually if automatic SLA assignment isn't configured.
